Book Launch: Applications in Soil Health: Experiences and Perspectives.
The book Aplicações em saúde do solo: experiências e perspectivas (Applications in Soil Health: Experiences and Perspectives) was launched during the Symposium on Soil Organic Matter (SOM) 2026. The work represents a milestone for the group by bringing together contributions from researchers at different academic levels, including undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students.
In a context where soil health is consolidating as one of the main frontiers in soil science—connected to global challenges such as food security, climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem restoration—the book compiles the main results of over 200 scientific papers developed by the SOHMA (Soil Health & Management Research Group) from ESALQ/USP.
The 16 chapters present a comprehensive and applied analysis of the team's and its partners' experiences and perspectives on soil health nationwide, integrating consolidated practices with recent technological frontiers. The book addresses case studies in regenerative agriculture, integrated production systems, ecosystem conservation and recovery, methodologies for soil health assessment, and initiatives in teaching, extension, and institutional articulation.
Special thanks to the editors Maurício Roberto Cherubin, Fellipe Alcantara, Leonardo de Aro Galera, and George Lambais for leading the project, and to the SOHMA members who contributed to the elaboration of the chapters.
Published in open access, the book is available for free download on the USP Open Books Portal.
