Between August 28 and 30, the XII Workshop on Forest Restoration took place, bringing together students, professors, researchers, and professionals to discuss advances, challenges, and perspectives on forest restoration aligned with the carbon market.
This year’s edition highlighted the growing importance of integrating science, practice, and economic instruments to promote nature-based solutions. Over the three days of programming, the event featured lectures and round tables covering topics ranging from technical aspects of restoration and soil health to debates on public policies, certification, and opportunities connected to the carbon market. The short course of this edition focused on “Modeling Carbon Credits in Forest Restoration Projects”.
The workshop has consolidated itself as a space for exchanging experiences and building collective knowledge, bringing together different sectors of society and reinforcing the role of restoration as a key strategy to tackle climate change, conserve biodiversity, and foster sustainable development.

7th International Workshop on Land Use Policy and Governance and 6th Seminar on Sustainability in Water Resources: Soil and Water – Carbon as an Environmental Indicator
On December 5 and 6, 2024, the SOHMA group participated as a supporter of the VII International Workshop on Land Use and Governance Policy and the VI Seminar on Sustainability in Water Resources, held at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (Esalq-USP). With the central theme "Soil and Water: Carbon as an Environmental Indicator", the events brought together researchers, students, industry professionals, representatives of the legal sector and experts in environmental conservation. The objective was to promote multidisciplinary discussions, connecting the academic, political, rural, urban and legal sectors to debate the main challenges and solutions related to the sustainable use of soil and water.


XI Forest Restoration Workshop




SOHMA participated as an organizational collaborator in the XI Forest Restoration Workshop, together with GADE (Environmental Adequacy Group), which took place on August 29, 30 and 31, 2024. The event addressed several fronts in the area of forest restoration with the objective of disseminating knowledge and news, in addition to promoting debates and the exchange of experiences among participants. This edition featured discussions on technologies and innovations in the field of large-scale forest restoration, giving extra attention to the carbon market, and socioeconomic aspects and public policies, with its audience focused on specialists, professionals in the area and students. The last day of the event, August 31st, featured a mini-course, taught by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Caminhos da Semente (NGO focused on large-scale ecological restoration and seeds), with theoretical lectures and a practical trip, in which participants had the opportunity to visit reforestation areas using the Muvuca technique.




CCarbon Soil Health Symposium
SOHMA was pleased to participate as the organizing committee of the prestigious CCarbon Soil Health Symposium, an event that stood out for bringing together great names in soil health aiming at the exchange of knowledge and innovation. The symposium, held on April 24, 2024, attracted producers, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts of the topic, all united by the common goal of promoting sustainable practices and in the development of healthy soil management.
