SOHMA Kit Revolutionizes Soil Health Assessment

With the advancement of regenerative agriculture, the need to measure soil health is becoming increasingly important. Addressing this need, PhD candidate in Soil and Plant Nutrition Bruna Emanuele Schiebelbein (ESALQ/USP) and Professor Maurício Cherubin (ESALQ/USP), with support from the SOHMA group and the Research Center for Carbon in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON/USP), have developed the SOHMA Soil Health Kit.

The SOHMA Kit is a tool that allows farmers to assess soil health indicators in situ—that is, directly in the field—in a practical, accessible, comprehensive, and efficient way. Using this set of sensitive parameters, it is possible to determine whether the management practices applied in the agricultural system are appropriate for maintaining key physical, chemical, and biological processes and functions. These processes create a favorable environment for plant growth and, consequently, support the sustainability of the chosen management system.

The SOHMA Kit is a compact and portable set that can be easily taken into the field. This innovation will be available soon. For any questions, please contact SOHMA through our social media channels.
