New SOHMACast Episode: Healthy soils in the construction of restored forests
In the third episode of the new season of SOHMA Cast, a podcast developed by the SOHMA group at ESALQ-USP in partnership with TV USP Piracicaba and CCarbon, hosts Lucas Nogueira and Lívia Pavan welcome Professor Pedro Henrique Santin Brancalion for a conversation about the importance of soil health in tropical forest restoration.
During the episode, the main challenges to expanding forest restoration in Brazil are discussed, including technical limitations, costs, and the availability of seeds and seedlings. The discussion also highlights how the physical, chemical, and biological attributes of the soil directly influence the success of degraded land restoration.

In addition, the episode presents strategies and methods used in restoration, with a focus on building resilient forests within productive landscapes. Topics such as carbon markets, species diversity, soil microbiology, and new monitoring technologies are also explored.
The conversation reinforces the potential of forest restoration to generate environmental, social, and economic benefits, contributing to more sustainable systems that are better adapted to current challenges.
