Attendance at G20
On September 9th, 2024, the International Forum on Agriculture and Livestock (FIAP), a parallel event to the G20, took place in Cuiabá, MT. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Maurício Roberto Cherubin, along with Prof. Dr. Carlos Eduardo Cerri (Director of CCARBON/USP), Prof. Dr. Aline Cesar, Prof. Dr. Pedro Brancalion and Prof. Dr. Thais Vieira (Director of ESALQ/USP).
They spoke about advances in food production and the use of more sustainable management practices (such as direct planting and integrated systems). The forum highlighted soil health, which is the greatest foundation for having more productive and resilient agriculture in the context of climate change. In addition, some recent advances in the area were highlighted, such as the SOHMA KIT (a tool for assessing soil health in the field) and the creation of the Brazilian Soil Health Partnership (a national soil health alliance).
